samsung galaxy s4 benchmark test

Samsung Galaxy S4 even doubled the speed compared to the Apple’s iPhone 5. Samsung scored in this benchmark test 3163 points. Where the HTC One has scored 2687 points and the iPhone 5 has scored 1596 points. We have to see the fight between all these devices in real life. The iPhone 5 uses a dual-core processor and the HTC One and Galaxy S 4 uses a quad-core processor. The processor of the Galaxy S 4 is clocked on 1.9Ghz which is 200MHz higher than the HTC one.

All on all be happy the testers didn’t use Samsung’s own EXYNOS Octa-Core processor. This processor is expected to beat all current processors in one time. Samsung will sell the Galaxy S 4 with the Octa-Core processor in a couple of countries.

cyanogenmod10 galaxy s4

Recently, a member of the team that oversees CyanogenMOD on Samsung devices came out against building the software for the Galaxy S4. Citing many ongoing issues with the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 — specifically on Exynos hardware — longtime member XpLoDWilD spoke for Team Hacksung (whether authorized to or not) on his and others’ intentions for Samsung’s upcoming flagship.

Nobody at Team Hacksung (the team behind Galaxy S2, Note, S3, Note2, G Tabs… official CM ports) plans to buy it, neither develop for it. There are two variants which will be a pain to maintain, [and] the bugs we have on the S3 will probably be there on S4, too (camera), and we all know Samsung ability to release sources while staying in line with mainline. Yes Qualcomm releases sources, but Exynos sources we had were far from [working on] actual Galaxy products. I’m pretty sure the same will happen for this one.

That’s a uniform “no” from us.

The message sounds dire, proclaiming the end of CyanogenMOD development for the high-end Samsung line. Mainly from Samsung’s proclivity to keep essential drivers close to their chest, the members would rather focus on winnable battles. Essentially, they’re saying, Nexus devices are the only ones that will continue to work flawlessly on AOSP-based software.

samsung galaxy s4 teardown price

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is more expensive to make than the previous Galaxy S III. Not too hard to believe. According to the latest teardown by IHS iSuppli they state that the total Bill of Materials (BOM) is about 15% higher than the GSIII, specifically noting that the Galaxy S4 16GB HSPA+ model costs $236 (USD) and the LTE-enabled model is $233. The Galaxy S III reportedly has a BOM of $204. Of course, iSuppli says that these are only estimates as the device has yet to be released.

The major increase in price was caused by the larger HD display (resolution of 1920 x 1080), now at 5-inches with a 441PPI. This costs $75 per device, up from $65 in the 4.8-inch GSIII. In addition, Exynos 5 Octa processor found in the HSPA+ model is $30, while the 1.9-GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor is 10 bucks cheaper at $20. With all the new features, namely the new camera and new humidity, temperature, and ifrared gesture sensors, all helped the GS4 rise above the GSIII.

samsung galaxy s4 snapdragon 600

The Samsung I9500 Galaxy S4 is the first smartphone with an octa-core processor or at least in some regions. As expected, the North American versions of the phone will use a Snapdragon chipset instead (a 600 to be precise).

So, both the US and Canada are getting quad Krait 300 cores and Adreno 320 GPU instead of Cortex-A15 / A7 CPU cores (four of each) and PowerVR SGX544MP3 GPU.

We expected that version to only be available in North America and the European version to use the Exynos 5 Octa chipset. The Swedish site for major European carrier Tele2, however, lists the Samsung Galaxy S4 on pre-order with the Snapdragon 600 chipset. The prices start at SEK 220 (about $34) per month on contract.

Viewing the terms and conditions of the competition revealed that Samsung is to give away 48 Galaxy S4 phones, and that each has an “approximate retail value” of $579 (£383).

Swiftkey for galaxy s4

The Galaxy 4 is expected to have SwiftKey typing prediction built into the software, according to a source of The Wall Street Journal. The next word and sentence prediction from SwiftKey is a welcome addition to the software, but probably shouldn’t come as any surprise. The Galaxy Note 2 had the same prediction software built-in, and it would make sense that Samsung would continue those deals on to the latest flagship also.

For the time being, SwiftKey is available for purchase in Google Play Store at a price of $3.99, and, in my opinion, is the best replacement for the stock Android virtual keyboard.

Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S4 at its Radio City Music Hall event in New York City. JK Shin, Samsung’s head of mobile communications, teased a number of the leaked features that we expected to hear and then finally introduced the new handset, which looks just like what we saw in earlier leaks. The phone will launch on 327 mobile operators in 55 countries starting at the end of April, with 3G and 4G / LTE versions available, and its polycarbonate case will initially be available in two colors, white and black.

The international version of the Samsung Galaxy S IV is going to be powered by the Exynos 5 Octa chipset, which features four Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 1.6GHz, four Cortex-A7 cores running at 1.2GHz and the PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU.
